Responding to requests for an all plastic lug style butterfly valve, the second generation 5-series lug-style Type 578 butterfly valve offers corrosion resistance with long service life and is available in manual, electric, and pneumatic actuated versions. Constructed of a glass filled polypropylene (PP) outer housing with overmolded SS316 lugs, the component employs a double-eccentric design. This allows the disc to completely disengage from the disc seal during operation, reducing friction and component wear to provide longer service life without sacrificing the valve's sealing ability. The new valve is available in PVC, CPVC, PP, ABS and PVDF in sizes from 2 in. to 12 in. with seal material choices of EPDM, FPM and PTFE.
