Piezo Kinetics Inc., Bellefonte, PA, offers the PKI 100 and PKI 105 lead metaniobate piezoelectric ceramic material. PKI 100 is a drop-in equivalent to K81 and PKI 105 is a drop-in equivalent to K85. The material offers low mechanical QM, negligible aging, a range of operating temperatures, and small values for lateral and planar coupling when compared to longitudinal coupling. Low QM enhances the use of the material in construction of wide-bandwidth sensors for high-frequency pulse echo measurements. Applications include ultrasonic thickness gauges, NDT, and down-hole drilling sensors.
