Structured Materials Industries Inc. (SMI) has received additional funding to enhance a Department of Homeland Security project. The goal is to integrate enhanced radiation detection with GPS into a PDA for use by public safety and homeland security professionals. Periodically, on command, and at set points, the device will report radiation, time, and position to a local or regional radiological emergency facility.
