OmniVision and FISBA Develop Camera Module with Sub-2mm Diameter and Integrated Illumination

SANTA CLARA, CA -- OmniVision Technologies, Inc. and FISBA AG announce a new microcamera solution for life science applications. FISBA’s FISCam™ is a customizable microcamera with integrated illumination that comes in a compact package measuring less than 2 mm in diameter. This new microcamera uses OmniVision’s high-performance OV6946 CameraChip™ sensor to deliver striking images and video in 400 x 400 resolution even with the extremely small module size.

Using an advanced 1.75-micron OmniBSI+™ pixel, the OV6946 captures high-quality 400 x 400 resolution images and video at 30 frames per second (FPS) with excellent color fidelity. The sensor’s 0.9 x 0.9 mm package size makes it ideally suited for ultra-compact camera modules.

The FISBA FISCam platform offers excellent optical performance, 120-degree field of view (diagonal) and homogenous illumination characteristics (LED). The platform is scheduled to be sampling in the second quarter of 2016, and is expected to enter volume production in the fourth quarter of 2016.
