Omega Honored by Gloucester County Board of Freeholders

The Gloucester County Board of Freeholders recently honored Omega Engineering for its outstanding contribution to the economic development of the tri-county region of southern New Jersey. This first-annual award honored Omega for its class 10 clean-room facility in Bridgeport, NJ. The Logan Township facility has nearly 300 employees and manufactures thin film technology used to make its industry-leading temperature, pressure, and other process control devices. These high-tech products are being used in applications ranging from temperature and pressure measurement in aircraft and submarines to the development of cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks. Their sensors are also used by universities and research facilities to develop new pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

Jim Ferguson, vice president of the instruments and controls division is proud of this prestigious award because having a class 10 clean room means "having fewer particles in the air per cubic foot," thus enabling Omega to develop, manufacture, and provide the world with state-of-the-art process control sensors. Jim Ferguson adds, "Basically, we are at a level where we could create microprocessors such as those used in a computer and created by companies such as Intel."

Omega Engineering was praised for its contribution "to the technical infrastructure of Gloucester County through the manufacture of sophisticated, customized products for measurement and temperature control for over 20 years." The award recognized the company's creation of over 100,000 different products and ownership of 100 patents. Their clean-room technology, as well as their plans to construct another building, were cited as indications of Omega Engineering's continued expansion and investment in the economic development of the region.
