Oclaro Releases High Optical Power Red Laser Diode in Small Compact Package

SAN JOSE, CA -- Oclaro, Inc. announces the company is in mass production of the HL63193MG, a 638nm red laser diode with 700mW output power, multiple transverse mode and 5.6mm diameter small TO package. This high power red laser diode is targeted at the emerging Laser TV and Projection markets. Oclaro will be showcasing its leading edge laser diode portfolio during the Photonics West show held at the Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA from February 4-6, 2014 at Oclaro booth #940 in the South Hall.

High power red laser diodes are a critical building block for laser TV and display applications. New projectors require several 10s of Watts of combined red, green and blue laser optical power to meet the customers' expectations brightness and image quality. The Oclaro 700mW red laser diodes enable customers to maximize overall output power without increasing the number of components inside the projector.

With a high Wall Plug Efficiency of approximately 38%, the HL63193MG reduces the electrical power consumption and also the amount of heat which has to be removed from the package, allowing for more compact and integrated designs.
