New-Tire Defect Detector Promises Broad Application to Mechanical Systems

Engineers at Purdue University have developed a system that uses sensors and mathematical models to objectively detect defects in newly manufactured tires better than conventional inspections. The method offers promise in other applications, including quality assurance in engine manufacturing.
