Network Chemistry Sells its Wireless Security Business

PALO ALTO, CA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Network Chemistry announced today that Aruba Networks (NASDAQ: ARUN) has acquired its wireless security business. This divestment enables Network Chemistry to focus entirely on its rapidly growing IT management business.

For more than a year, Network Chemistry has been working on a major initiative to help organizations better understand and manage IT through innovative search and collaboration technologies. Known by its code name "Project Wishbone," it is the world's first on-demand search engine for IT. Project Wishbone breaks down the walls between isolated IT systems by using search algorithms to find the hidden relationships between data from different systems and devices. The Wishbone search engine provides a starting place to solve virtually any IT problem, whether it is related to security, operations, or networking.

More than 500,000 individuals and businesses already use Network Chemistry's open source tools. The users of these tools have helped Network Chemistry create the world's largest collaborative device-classification index. Project Wishbone will rapidly build on this success.

Aruba plans to integrate the newly acquired products into its secure mobility solutions, as well as provide products and continuing support to existing Network Chemistry customers and partners.

The divestment includes the following award-winning products:

  • RFprotect Distributed—a patent-pending wireless intrusion detection and prevention system that uses a central security engine and purpose-built sensors to automate threat detection, attack prevention, and 'no wireless' policy enforcement
  • RFprotect Endpoint—a software agent that protects laptops by actively enforcing networking policies
  • RFprotect Mobile—a portable analyzer for conducting site surveys, security assessments, and incident responses of wireless networks
  • BlueScanner—a free, portable Bluetooth discovery and vulnerability assessment tool
