Nanotech Research Meeting To Feature Wireless Sensor Network Forum

LEUVEN, Belgium--(BUSINESS WIRE)--IMEC, a world-leading independent nanoelectronics and nanotechnology research center, will hold its annual research review meeting (ARRM) from October 22-24 at the Province House in Leuven, Belgium.

ARRM06 will examine how to bridge the gap between system design and process technology so that industry can design, develop and manufacture smart devices, sub-systems and systems for future markets and applications.

This year's ARRM will feature the International Wireless Sensor Network Forum, a half-day event that will examine enabling technologies for intelligent sensor networks, both from a sensor platform and network infrastructure perspective. The event is supported by Boston (Massachusetts) University's Sensor Network Consortium.

As an international R&D center, IMEC comprises a global research community where next-generation technologies are explored, compared and implemented through collaborative programs. ARRM06 brings industry executives and research managers together with senior IMEC research staff to discuss these technological challenges.

ARRM06 will feature 14 sessions and 2 thematic events with contributions from both IMEC researchers and industry executives. Discussion topics include semiconductor manufacturing processes, processes beyond CMOS, system design challenges for sub-32nm technologies, technology-aware-design, design for reliability, advanced packaging and integration issues, technologies for seamless connectivity, emerging embedded platforms, organic devices and power electronics.

Registration and further information for both ARRM and the International Wireless Sensor Network Forum can be found at the website: www.arrm.be.

About IMEC
IMEC is a world-leading independent research center in nanoelectronics and nanotechnology. Its research focuses on the next generations of chips and systems, and on the enabling technologies for ambient intelligence. IMEC's research bridges the gap between fundamental research at universities and technology development in industry. Its unique balance of processing and system know-how, intellectual property portfolio, state-of-the-art infrastructure and its strong network of companies, universities and research institutes worldwide position IMEC as a key partner for shaping technologies for future systems.

As an expansion of its wireless autonomous microsystems research, IMEC has created a legal entity in the Netherlands. Stichting IMEC Nederland runs activities at the Holst Centre, an independent R&D institute that develops generic technologies and technology platforms for autonomous wireless transducer solutions and systems-in-foil.

IMEC is headquartered in Leuven, Belgium, and has representatives in the US, China and Japan. Its staff of more than 1450 people includes more than 500 industrial residents and guest researchers. In 2005, its revenue was EUR 197 million. Further information on IMEC can be found at the company's Web site.
