The EX470 from Extech Instruments, Waltham, MA, is a combination true RMS multimeter and IR laser thermometer. The autoranging multimeter has a 4000 count display, 0.3% basic VDC accuracy, capacitance and frequency functions, and Type K thermocouple measurements and is rated CAT III-600 V. The IR thermometer features 8:1 distance to target ratio with 0.95 fixed emissivity and a surface temperature measurement range of –20°C to 270°C. The device provides a backlit LCD, input fuse protection, misconnection warnings with audible and visible signals, max. and relative functions, low current ranges, UL listing, and a 3 year warranty.
