The DMPU Series from Carlo Gavazzi Inc., Buffalo Grove, IL, is a modular electronic motor protection relay to control, monitor, and protect 3-phase constant or dual-speed AC induction motors from thermal damage caused by overload conditions. The device measures voltage, current, harmonic distortion, power, energy, and earth leakage current. It monitors overload conditions using the thermal model, controls the variables, and also measures motor and bearing temperature. A data logger function stores the electrical variables and alarms. The DMPU implements several ANSI functions to protect the motor.
