ZMD Series miniature length sensors from Omega Engineering Inc., Stamford, CT, feature a built-in spring-loaded torsion arm that allow them to be used in almost any orientation. With a 6 in. circumference wheel, the sensor can be used on almost any surface and at speeds up to 3000 fpm. Max. frequency is 200 kHz standard; max. mechanical speed is 6000 rpm; starting torque is 0.05 oz-in. IP50 or 0.4 oz-in IP65. Accuracy is within 0.017° mechanical or 1 arc-minute from true position (for PPR>189). The durable, conductive composite housing eliminates static build-up. Applications include food industries that use conveyor ovens, industrial wire manufacturing, and medical lab mixing equipment.
