The Vertex pressure sensor from Dynisco Instruments, Franklin, MA, measures melt pressure for plastic extrusion applications in the food, pharmaceutical, and medical industries. The sensor's tip registers melt pressure directly through a single robust, Inconel 718 alloy diaphragm and is coated with a diamond-hardened DyMax coating. The sensor wall structure has also been fortified to handle side stresses. Sensors are offered in pressure ranges of 1500, 3000, 5000, 7500, and 10,000 psi with ±0.25% F.S. accuracy over the standard pressure ranges. Outputs include 3.33 mV/V or 4—20 mA. Type J thermocouples are available to provide a melt temperature signal.
