Medical Sensors Design Conference 2018: Making Sense of Sensors

In just a few weeks, Michael Sullivan, BCC Research’s Senior Editor, will deliver his keynote address, “Making Sense of Security and Applications in Sensors for Medical Devices.” Making sense of sensors – devices that constitute an enormous global market – is his mission, and he looks forward to explaining how sensors are providing broader measurements, are increasing in quality and frequency of data, and are relaying more data than ever to other devices and end users.


“The primary theme is the expanded market for sensors of all types provided by innovations in medical devices, regulatory guidelines and technical advances, such as miniaturization and bio and nanosensors,” Sullivan said about the keynote. “Lower cost sensor technology has made it easier to create devices to address a wide variety of medical applications.”

As the senior editor for BCC Research’s Internet of Things and information technology market research, Michael Sullivan has authored several recent reports that feature IoT technologies, and all of these technologies depend on advanced sensor technology. He expects the relationship between IoT and sensors technology will be on the forefront throughout the conference.


“IoT empowers the sensor market through the inclusion of ubiquitous connectivity, which opens the door to greater value than standalone sensors,” Sullivan said. “I expect connectivity to be a major theme driving new business models, devices and sensor packaging.”


As the first keynote address of the conference, Sullivan is looking forward to framing the future of sensors technology, especially as it relates to medical applications. Additionally, he looks forward to sharing BCC Research’s reports with conference attendees as well as participating in the exchange of ideas.
