Medical Sensors Design Conference 2018: Healthcare Wearables, the Future Is Now

Wearable electronics are a major market in both the consumer and healthcare arenas, however, on the healthcare side, more applications are coming of age in the serious medical theater. This includes critical condition monitors patients are wearing that can communicate directly with physicians and healthcare professionals, to both keep tabs on a patient’s condition as well as alerting to serious events that require immediate attention. Existing devices and those being created are no longer specialty items, and are going mainstream at a rapid pace.

Consumer items abound, most widely known being those offered by Fitbit. For general fitness applications such as exercise, routine health parameter monitoring, general diet, etc., consumer devices are serviceable. They are somewhat accurate and are in no way expected to be used, or even specified for critical healthcare applications.

The market for more precise and reliable medical wearables is on the rise. Research from MarketsandMarkets projects the global market for medical wearable devices to be $12.1 billion by 2021. Anyone involved in the design and/or operation of such devices really needs to on top of his/her game, particularly when it comes to new and innovative devices. One way to become a truly knowledgeable player is to attend the “Wearable Health: The Next Generation of Monitoring” session at Medical Sensors Design Conference 2018 June 25 to 26, 2018, a component part of Sensors Expo & Conference 2018 in San Jose, CA, June 26 to 28, 2018.

The session will consist of a panel of experts from the wearable arena. Hans Danneels, Co-Founder & CEO of Byteflies, and Eric Dy Co-Founder & CEO of Bloomlife will be on the panel, which will be moderated by Bunny Ellerin, Director of the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Program, Columbia Business School.

To garner a wealth of knowledge from these experts, there’s a simple two-step process involved. First, register for either or both the Medical Sensors Design Conference 2018 and/or Sensors Expo & Conference 2018. Second, attend the “Wearable Health: The Next Generation of Monitoring” session, Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 11:00 am to 11:45 am.
