The MA20 from Baumer Ltd., Southington, CT, provides position and speed feedback for conveyor systems and combines a high-resolution optical incremental encoder and a precise measuring wheel. Resolutions are up to 25,000 ppr. The encoder's HEX switch lets you select from 16 predefined resolutions from between 100 and 25,000 ppr. The 200 mm circumference, wear-resistant wheel is available in a variety of rubber hardnesses. Additional encoder features include continuously adjustable contact pressure, IP64 rating, and an operating temperature range of –20°C to 85°C. Applications include packaging, labeling, and bottling in food processing, furnace/oven, and letter/parcel sorting, textile, and printing.
