The Model DS04 from PKP Process Instruments Inc., Hudson, MA, is suited for measuring and monitoring the flow of low-viscosity liquids and gases in applications such as monitoring equipment cooling loops on laser and plasma welding systems, pump monitoring/control, and alarm function for critical process flows. The sensor works on the variable area principal and uses a float guided in a cylindrical measuring tube by means of a slotted nozzle. One or two reed switches in a sealed housing are magnetically coupled to the float and are factory preset or field-adjustable over the range of the instrument. The switch is available in pipe sizes from 1/4 in. to 1 in. and F.S. ranges of 1.5 lpm to 50 lpm for water and 28 slpm to 240 slpm for air.
