The HSI3003 Heat Spy from Wahl Instruments Inc., Asheville, NC, has 9.1° by 6.8° FOV optics for detection and temperature measurement of small objects over long distances. Temperature measurement range is 0°C–250°C. The handheld imager has a tripod mount for remote use, is fully radiometric, and features a 160 by 120 pixel uncooled microbolometer array. Other features include a 3.5 in. color LCD with LED backlight, report software, and a trigger-activated Class II laser. Applications include inspecting substation and overhead distribution and transmission lines for power utilities, condition monitoring of electrical and mechanical systems, building diagnostics, energy audits, law enforcement, and research and development.
