Light Bulb With Unique Sensor Tech Is Impervious To Blackouts And The Media

If you live anywhere in the US you know, from media hype, that every storm, subtle to severe, poses the threat of a power blackout. And with the proliferation of always-on devices, a brownout can occur by someone flicking on that one last device that breaks the local grid’s back.

There you are in the dark with your meat defrosting and your beer getting warm. What’s a person to do? One possible answer to this problem is the SmartCharge LED light bulb.

The SmartCharge bulb fits standard incandescent bulb fixtures and, under normal power conditions, operates like a run-of-the-mill light bulb. Under the hood, the component stores a rechargeable battery and employs proprietary Grid & Switch sensor technology.

The patented sensor technology works in conjunction with the rechargeable li-ion battery and the light switch. Essentially, once the power goes out, the LED bulb will obviously derive power from the battery and stay lit. The neat part is that the proprietary grid/switch sensor technology allows users to still control the bulb, turning it on or off, from the wall switch as if no power outage occurred.

After a blackout or brownout occurs, the LED bulb will operate up to four hours on the li-ion backup battery.  It can be used in fixtures with multiple light bulbs controlled via a single switch. Additionally, the component is UL, FCC, CE, and ROHS compliant and is available in E26/27 and B22 base types.

SmartCharge is available for purchase and ships worldwide. Purchases can be made on the company’s website. In reality, the SmartCharge bulb sounds like a great thing to have. When the power goes out you can watch your meet defrost and beer get warm without straining your eyes. ~MD
