A digital I/O relay output module for USB 2.0, the DT9817-R from Data Translation Inc., Marlboro, MA, has 8 digital input lines with input voltage ranges of ±3 V to ±32 V and 8 digital output lines capable of switching up to 30 V at 400 mA. Other features include up to 500 V channel-to-channel isolation and a 32-bit counter/timer capable of event counting, frequency or edge-to-edge measurement, and rate generation. The inputs can be used for proximity and limit switches and TTL and pushbutton devices while outputs can be used for switching AC and DC loads.
