ARCwire -- The International Standards Organization (ISO) has standardized the EPCglobal Gen 2 RFID air interface protocol as an extension to Part 6 of its ISO 18000 standard, "Radio Frequency Identification for Item Management." This ISO standard covers air interface protocols in the global UHF bandwidth range of 860 to 960 MHz. The long-awaited standard further legitimizes the air interface portion of the EPCglobal Gen 2 standard by adding the support of the global ISO standards organization and ultimately allowing customers to specify products that conform to the standard.
