IPS to Build Thin-Film Battery Manufacturing Facility

GOLDEN, CO /BUSINESS WIRE/ -- Infinite Power Solutions (IPS), a leader in thin-film battery development, announced it has leased a new facility in Littleton, CO, where it plans to build high-volume manufacturing lines for its LiTE*STAR rechargeable thin-film lithium batteries. The 36,795 sq. ft. building at 11149 Bradford Road, which will also serve as the company's new corporate headquarters, is part of the rapidly growing Ken Caryl Business Center and is currently owned by a partnership formed by Ojala & Company.

IPS recently raised more than $35 million in venture capital funding to finance the build-out of the manufacturing plant and accelerate business development based on the increasing demand for thin-film battery technology. CH2M Hill (Dallas, TX) is the general contractor and is managing improvements to the plant that will include increased electrical power, cooling systems, and clean rooms similar to semiconductor facilities.

"This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will further enable IPS to lead the industry in thin-film battery production capacity," said Raymond Johnson, IPS president and CEO. "We are excited to transfer this technology from our pilot production lab into volume production to serve government and commercial customers. We are proud to say our products will be produced here in the U.S. and bring more high-tech jobs to the Denver area," added Johnson.

IPS currently has 18 full-time employees and expects to increase staff as it ramps to volume production. The company will occupy the building in phases, beginning in March of 2007. IPS selected the Littleton location because it was close to its R&D facility in Golden, which it plans to maintain and use for technology and product development.

IPS is a privately held, U.S. venture-backed technology company that develops and manufactures LiTE*STAR solid-state, rechargeable, thin-film lithium batteries for use in portable and remote powered devices. IPS micro-batteries offer advanced performance in an ultra-thin form factor for many applications, including military, aerospace, smart cards, active RFID, implantable medical devices, embedded micro-controllers, and wireless sensors. LiTE*STAR micro-batteries will not burn, fume, leak, or explode and can operate over extreme temperature conditions.
