Integrated TPMS Debuts As Smallest To Date
Freescale Semiconductor

As per Freescale Semiconductor, its FXTH87 tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) is the industry’s smallest integrated package tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) solution available. Weighing in at 0.3g, it measures 7 mm x 7 mm x 2.2 mm package, said to be 50% smaller than comparable products. Allegedly, the FXTH87 family also achieves the industry’s lowest RF power consumption at 7 mA. Other features include 100 to 450 kPa and 100 to 900 kPa pressure ranges, Z-axis or dual XZ-axis accelerometers, standard or precision accelerometer tolerances available, low-power wake-up timer and periodic reset driven by LFO, dedicated state machines, an eight-bit MCU/S08 core with SIM, interrupt and debug/monitor, 512 bytes of RAM and 16k Flash (8 k for Freescale library, 8 k for applications), 315-MHz and 434-MHz RF transmitters, a 125-kHz LF receiver, and six multipurpose GPIO pins including two a/d inputs. The FXTH87 TPMS is available now with price starting at $3.45 each/10,000. For more information, visit
