Inductive Linear Sensors Dive Deep

Alliance Sensors Group

Designed for subsea environments and oil-and-gas exploration, the SS-7 series linear variable inductive (LVIT) transducer resides in a hydraulic cylinder and utilizes the gun-drilled piston rod as a target. Essentially, it senses its position without the need for a magnet. The component can be submerged to a depth of 12,000 ft. or installed in a pressure balanced oil filled chamber to provide position feedback on blowout preventers, ROVs, and relief valves. Features include a 25-mm diameter, 316 stainless-steel housing, measurement ranges from 25 mm to 600 mm, operation to 5,200 psi or a 3 km depth, contactless operation with no wear-out, dc-voltage or -current analog outputs, and SenSet field adjustable scaling (software).
