Electro Optical Components offers a low internal stress coating that is biocompatible and feature high temperature stability up to +750ºC. The nanoamorphous carbon coatings can also be made electrically conducting, with conductivity varying from dielectric to metallic. Work has been done with this coating on surgical tools where rapid heating by sending a current through the coating was used to cauterize.
