Microstar Laboratories Inc., Bellevue, WA, has released a software package for high-precision 1/3 octave audio analysis for use with its general-purpose xDAP DA systems. The embedded 1/3 octave analysis uses the MIXRFFT processing command for its frequency analysis. While the DAPL3000 operating system processes the full audio range, requiring very large data sets, the MIXRFFT command supports the processing while the special THIRDOCT analysis then does the bookkeeping on the resulting data sets to identify and summarize the logarithmically spaced 1/3 octave bands. Available for free download, the software includes a technical note explaining how to customize the software.
