The AAV003-10E GMR current sensor from NVE Corp., Eden Prairie, MN, combines a very low-hysteresis GMR bridge sensor element with an onchip current strap. Bridge output voltage is bipolar and proportional to the current through the strap over a ±80 mA input range. Typical sensitivity is 1 mV/mA with a 12 V supply and no amplification. Max. strap resistance is 0.35 ohm; output is independent of shunt resistance. The sensors are targeted at circuit board current sensing for process control and instrumentation and are supplied in a 2.5 mm by 2.5 mm 6-pin TDFN package.
