Gas Measurement Module Can Take The Heat

Electro Optical Components’ latest gas measurement module can operate at temperatures up to +190°C.  The module is based on the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) principle.  The module employs special infrared components such as a two-channel thermopile detector containing two thermopile chips with IR narrow bandpass filters, one for CO2 (or other gases) and one for the reference channel.

The module’s measurement chamber (in the hot environment) is connected to external electronics mounted away from the heat. The gas being measured fills the measurement chamber. Infrared radiation from the source passes through the gas and generates a signal voltage in the thermopile infrared detector. One channel of detector has a narrow band filter with the passband that is the same as the wavelength absorbed by the gas to be detected. The presence of the target gas inside the chamber causes a drop of the output signal of the detector.  This drop is directly related to the gas concentration present, so you can determine gas concentration.
