Freescale Honored by General Motors

AUSTIN, TX /BUSINESS WIRE/ -- Freescale Semiconductor, a global leader in the design and manufacture of embedded semiconductors, was honored by General Motors for overall excellence in supporting GM's product efforts. GM announced the honor during ceremonies on Thursday, January 11, at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, MI.

"GM strives to build the best cars and trucks in the world, and the leadership and employees of Freescale represent what it takes to make GM's products successful," said Bo Andersson, GM Vice President, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "We honor these companies at the North American International Auto Show to remind the industry and the public of the critical role our suppliers play in developing GM vehicles globally."

"Freescale and GM have collaborated for more than 20 years, and together, we continue to improve safety, fuel efficiency, emissions, and the overall driver experience for next-generation vehicles," said Paul Grimme, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Freescale's Transportation and Standard Products Group. "This award shows that GM values our companies' strategic relationship, which fosters industry-changing innovation for automotive consumers around the world."

This is the sixth year GM has honored suppliers at the North American International Auto Show.
