First “Wearable Beacon” Turns Everyone Into A Nanny

There’s no doubt that wearable electronics is a booming market at the moment. Everything from truly functional health and athletic aids to novelty items draw much interest and coin. One example of a novel idea that may catch your fancy is what is being called the “first wearable beacon”, the creation of South Korean company Reverth.

The Lineable is a wrist-worn device described as being unlike other wearable devices such as smart watches or other types. Taking a simple approach, it performs only one function: continually emit signals until the battery is depleted. Another notable feature, Lineable costs just $5.

Okay, so what does one do with a five-dollar continuous signal emitter? Put it on your child or pet to keep track of either or both, of course!

Currently available devices that prevent pet or child loss are significantly more expensive because they include numerous functions. Dome of these functions may be unnecessary, such as functions accessible from smartphones. These type trackers cost $50 or more and often require regular maintenance fees.

Lineable eliminates monthly fees by using Bluetooth 4.0 to connect via smartphones and offers an app that, once downloaded and installed, can track the device. Essentially, the beacon can be detected by all nearby users once they have installed the Lineable app. Therefore, the more users Lineable attains, the more safe-zones are made for children. This means users in a given area can watch each other’s Lineable wearers.

When there is a child reported missing, every Lineable app user will be notified of the missing child. And if any Lineable user is within the vicinity of the missing child, push notifications are sent to both the parents and the locator. For more information visit http://igg.me/at/Lineable

Sounds like a great idea, but there are some questions you may ask yourself. Do they need to be mentioned here? ~MD
