Fiber Optic Switch Ready For LiDAR Apps

LASER COMPONENTS’ Agiltron CrystaLatch (CL) series optical switches are designed for sensor and LiDAR applications. The CL 1x6 switch assigns the incoming signal to one of the six available output ports and simultaneously detects the reflected signal via a dedicated sensor port. It is tailored for permanent, fail-safe live operation under strong vibrations, and allegedly works perfectly even at temperatures of -40°C.

 

A magneto-optical solution is applied to minimize optical signal losses. The circuitry is carried out in a patented configuration without mechanical components – the integrated circulator is activated via an electrical control signal. Due to the latching function (flip flop), the selected optical output remains active even after the driver signal is switched off.
