Balluff Inc., Florence, KY, has expanded its Steelface line of sensors to include devices that combine a rugged single-piece SS housing with 2–3 times the sensing range of standard inductive proximity sensors. Steelface sensors can detect all metals at virtually the same sensing distance, removing the need to de-rate the sensing distance of the sensor based on target material. The extended-range devices consist of 12, 18, and 30 mm sensors offered in NO pnp and npn configurations.
