To assist in the design process, Allegro MicroSystems offers an evaluation kit for its A4915 three-phase MOSFET controller for brushless dc (BLDC) motors. The kit is compliant to 50V and includes everything necessary to spin a motor. Six onboard N-channel power MOSFETs supply 30A peak and 20A nominal run current at room temperature. If larger loads are necessary, the A4915 has jumpers that disable the onboard bridge and provide connections to add an external bridge. Other features include a 5V regulator to supply logic inputs. The A4915 development kit is available for both the 28-pin TSSOP with an exposed thermal pad (suffix LP) and a 28-contact 5 mm x 5 mm QFN with an exposed thermal pad (suffix ET).
