EFJ Receives Confirmation of $3.3 Million Award from DoD

IRVING, TX /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EFJ Inc. announced that 3e Technologies International (3eTI) has been incrementally paid $3.3 million by a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) customer to support the U.S. Navy with a secure wireless video and mobility solution. This incremental funding is part of a previously announced time and materials-based contract vehicle with a ceiling of $7.7 million. The order was initially funded in the amount of $2.2 million; the incremental $3.3 million is the second amount to be released.

"Video surveillance is a fast growing segment of the wireless market and is estimated to be $3 billion in 2007, an important part of our growth strategy," said Michael E. Jalbert, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EFJ Inc. "In addition to fulfilling the project specifications for the U.S. Navy, the technologies developed as part of this program have the potential for a wide range of applications. For militaries, the technologies can be used for shipboard monitoring, and during tactical military and ground support operations. When used for port surveillance and monitoring large public events, these technologies can assist in homeland security. Disaster cleanup, search and rescue operations, forest fire fighting, and the monitoring of maintenance crews are other uses for wireless video monitoring. The commercialization of these technologies in the future will enable EFJ Inc. to sell similar solutions to a wide variety of customers."
