The patent-pending SDLM-051 direct drive linear motors with built-in encoder boast high acceleration, high speed, high resolution, and long life. Available in several off-the-shelf models, they feature resolutions of 5.2 µm (0.000206 in.), 1.25 µm (0.000049 in), and sub-micron resolution. The motors measure 50.8 mm in diameter and 95.3 mm long, and fit into new and existing applications using threaded features on the front and rear faces of the motor, as well as each end of the shaft. Other features include a 25.4-mm stroke with a continuous force of 22.2 N, peak force of 70.2 N.
