The Model MI-IS12-AL from Mikron Infrared Inc., Oakland, NJ, is a digital pyrometer designed specifically to measure the temperature of aluminum. Working at a wavelength where the material emissivity is both stable and relatively high (30%–43%), the device is suitable for aluminum extrusion, rolling, and billet heating. Features include high accuracy, repeatability, an RS-232/485 serial interface, and the ability to configure the device at the pyrometer or remotely using the serial interface and included software.
