Design Contest Calls Upon Imagineers to "Create the Future"

NEW YORK, NY -- The 14th annual "Create the Future" Design Contest is now open for submissions and runs through July 1, 2016.  Contestants are asked to submit innovative product design ideas that benefits society and the economy for the opportunity to receive global recognition and win a cash prize of $20,000 USD. The contest has helped stimulate and reward engineering innovation, and has brought attention to product designs that increase the quality of life, improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare, and help to reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources.

Principal sponsors are COMSOL and Mouser Electronics with Analog Devices and Intel as supporting sponsors.

The annual event has attracted more than 12,000 product design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs, and students worldwide. Previous grand prize winning entries include a non-surgical circulatory support device for the treatment of chronic heart failure; a computerized construction method that rapidly 3D prints large-scale structures directly from architectural CAD models; and an economical, rapid screening device that prevents foodborne illness.

This year's categories include:  Consumer Products and Electronics, Aerospace & Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Machinery/Automation/ Robotics, Medical Products, and Sustainable Technologies. In addition to product concepts, designs for products that have been introduced to the market within the past 12 months are eligible.

Contestants can enter for free either as an individual or as a team. An independent industry panel will judge the entries. Web site visitors are invited to vote for their favorite entry.
