The 8FE Coriolis flowmeters from Endress+Hauser Inc., Greenwood, IN, are NTEP-certified for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) applications, allowing the devices to be used during DEF production, tank storage, dispensing, and transportation. DEF consists of 32.5% urea with the balance distilled or deionized water, has a specific gravity of 1.09 at 68°F, weighs ~9.08 lb./gallon, and experiences a 7% volume increase when it freezes at temperatures <12°F. The flowmeter measures and compensates for environmental influences directly, by combining integrated temperature measurement with intelligent conversion functions for direct volume correction. Measurement accuracy is 0.3% of volume flow and 0.2% of mass flow. Output is a pulse output with 0°, 90°, or 180° phase offsets and/or a Modbus link with status output.
