Current Sensors Come In Highly Isolated Packages

Current Sensors Come In Highly Isolated Packages
Allegro MicroSystems

For ac or dc current sensing in industrial and commercial systems, the ACS722 and ACS723 current sensor ICs boast superior isolation performance, low power consumption, a wide operating temperature range with near zero magnetic hysteresis, and small surface-mount packages. Their packages provide a 4.8 kVRMS isolation rating. Both employ a linear Hall sensor circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. Internal resistance of this conductive path is 0.85 mΩ typical, enabling low power loss. The terminals of the conductive path are electrically isolated from the sensor leads (pins 9 through 16), allowing the devices to be used in high-side current sense applications without the use of high-side differential amplifiers or other isolation techniques. The ACS722KMA and the ACS723KMA are both priced at $2.19 each/1,000. Datasheets are available at:
