Compact Color Sensor Drives Intelligent Displays
ams AG

Optimized for use in mobile devices, the TMD3782 digital color sensor integrates ambient light, color, and proximity sensing. As per the company, it is the industry’s first integrated ambient light, color, and proximity sensor optimized for operation behind dark glass to drive intelligent display adaption. The TMD3782 module measures 3.9 mm x 2.4 mm x 1.4 mm and proximity detection is factory-calibrated to a distance of 100 mm, eliminating the need for production-line calibration. The TMD3782 sensor’s photodiodes have a radial structure to create a uniform and optimized angular response when mounted under the 360° module lens. The sensor also provides a 45° degree field of view. The TMD3782 is priced at $1.45 each/1,000. For further information, visit http://www.ams.com/Color-Sensor/TMD37821.
