The Model IR400 from General Monitors, Lake Forest, CA, is a point IR combustible gas detector with a 3 s T90 response time. The detector monitors hydrocarbon-based gases including methane, propane, ethane, ethylene, butane, hexane, pentane, and benzene and features rapid fail-to-safe continuous gas/vapor monitoring within the lower explosive limit (LEL). Other features include a self-diagnostic design to prevent false alarms and process shutdowns; no required routine calibration; heated optics; and the ability to configure the detector for analog output, Modbus, and HART. The detector carries FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx, and BV approvals; the CE marking, and can be used in SIL 3 systems.
