Forecasting better system reliability, the LTC2875, controller area network (CAN) transceiver features ±60V overvoltage fault and ±25kV HBM ESD protection on the data transmission lines. The device tolerates any voltage within ±60V, whether a circuit is transmitting, receiving, or powered off. It can be powered from a 3.3V or 5V rail and includes a low electromagnetic emission driver with a transmit data dominant timer and a high electromagnetic immunity receiver with a ±36V common mode range. Other features include a data rate of 4 Mb/s with an adjustable slew rate for data rates as low as 1 kb/s and a shutdown mode that brings all outputs to high impedance and reduces power consumption to 1 µA. Available in commercial, industrial, automotive, and military temperature grades in 3 mm x 3 mm DFN-8 and SO-8 packages, pricing starts at $1.72 each/1,000 piece quantities.
