Buck/Boost Controller Integrates Buck MOSFET

Automotive AEC-Q100 qualified, the A4450 power management IC implements either a buck or buck/boost regulator to efficiently convert automotive battery voltages into a regulated voltage. The device is suitable for automotive input environments where battery input voltage supply can vary above and below the required output voltage and a single inductor / single stage conversion is desired. Input operating voltage range is 3V to 36V and a high-voltage battery compatible enable (EN) input accommodates switched battery input applications. Output voltage ranges from 3V to 8V with load currents up to 1A. The PWM switching frequency range is 250 kHz to 2.4 MHz. Protection features include pulse-by-pulse current limit, hiccup mode short-circuit protection, and LX short-circuit protection. The device is available in a 20-lead, 4 mm x 4 mm QFN package priced at $1.42 each/1,000.
