Bosch showcases intelligent MEMS solutions for mobile consumer applications

At Electronica China, Bosch Sensortec and Akustica will demonstrate their newest MEMS innovations for mobile consumer applications. Bosch Sensortec will unveil its latest integrated sensor subsystems for mobile devices, while Akustica will show how ultra high performance MEMS microphones enhance the end user experience with mobile devices and wearables.

Bosch: five billion MEMS sensors

Bosch manufactures more than one billion micromechanical sensors a year for the automotive and consumer electronics markets – and has recently reached the milestone of five billion MEMS sensors.

The first wave of MEMS growth started with the introduction of MEMS sensors in automotive electronics in the 1990s. The second major wave of MEMS at Bosch has been driven by Bosch Sensortec and Akustica with the widespread integration of inertial, environmental, and acoustic MEMS sensors in smart phones, tablets, and game consoles since the beginning of the 21st century. Now, MEMS have quickly become the key technology for the Internet of Things where subsidiary Bosch Connected Devices and Solutions is well-positioned for sales growth with web-enabled products and web-based services. The company develops and supplies connected devices and solutions that can sense the world around them for Smart Homes, Transportation, Logistics and Traffic, Smart Activities, and Connected Industries.

New MEMS products at Electronica China

Bosch Sensortec will unveil new sensor subsystems that are specifically designed for mobile applications, where they provide a flexible, low power solution for motion sensing and sensor data processing. Akustica will highlight its latest high-performance MEMS microphones, targeted at mobile phones, wearables, and other consumer electronic devices that value high quality voice-input.
