BIS Awards Recognition to TÜV SÜD's Electrical and Electronic Products Testing Lab

BENGALURU -- The Bangalore-based Laboratory Conducts Testing and Certifications as per Global and Indian Standards for Electrical and Electronic Products in India

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has recognised TÜV SÜD's state-of-the-art Electrical and Electronics testing lab in Bengaluru under its Lab Recognition Scheme 2013. TÜV SÜD's lab in Bangalore will cover consumer electronics products under compulsory registration scheme. This testing facility will help electronic manufacturers reduce overall costs and turnaround time of products manufactured and marketed in India BIS recognises laboratories to evaluate the products produced and sold in India are safe to the consumer. This recognition is awarded by the Laboratory Advisory Committee of BIS.

The lab will conduct testing as per the following IS standards:
•IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 25): 2014, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - Microwave Oven
•IS 302 (Part 2/Sec 26): 2014, Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - Clocks
•IS 616:2010, Audio, Video and Similar Electronic Apparatus that includes Plasma/LCD/LED TVs, Optical disc players, Amplifiers, Electronic musical systems & Electronic video games
•IS 13252 (Part 1): 2010, Information Technology Equipments that includes Laptops\Notebooks\Tablets, Visual display unit & Video monitors, Printers & Plotters, Scanners, Wireless keyboards, Telephone answering machine, Set top box & Automatic data processing machines

The Laboratory Recognition Scheme of the BIS has been formulated with the objective to have a sufficient number of external laboratories in India in addition to the existing BIS labs to cater to the needs of Product Certification Scheme.

Currently, TÜV SÜD has 15 operational labs across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka specialising in testing and inspection of food, softlines, hardlines, health, beauty and children's products. These state-of-the-art labs utilise TÜV SÜD's multidisciplinary expert pool to provide comprehensive testing capabilities ranging from physical testing, performance and quality testing, and regulatory testing.
