Laser Components IG, Inc., Hudson, NH, offers the SAR500x and SARP500x silicon avalanche photodiodes with a reach-through structure for high sensitivity in the 400–1100 nm spectral range and rise and fall times of 450 ps typical. The SAR500X is designed for uses including laser range finding and optical communication while the SARP500x has low noise and dark current (200 pA at M=100), allowing it to detect very small amounts of light. Applications for the SARP500x include spectroscopy, fluorescence measurement, medical technology, and LIDAR.
