The ZMD31150 from ZMD AG, Dresden, Germany, is a high-speed automotive signal conditioner IC with onchip diagnostics for use with all types of Wheatstone-bridge sensors. The IC provides amplification and sensor-specific digital correction of bridge sensor signals. Its analog preamp gain of 420 accommodates bridge outputs as low as 1 mV/V and an extended sensor offset. Other features include a 16-bit ADC with a 7.8 kHz sampling rate, system analog bandwidth of 4 kHz, selectable internal or external temperature compensation, an internal digital signal processor running a correction algorithm to provide signal conditioning, and an EEPROM that contains the error-correcting function and an EEPROM signature check.
