The Model 106M160 from PCB Piezotronics Inc., Automotive Sensors Div., Depew, NY, is a high-intensity ICP acoustic microphone designed to measure airbag deployment noise and total impulse of an inflation event occurring inside an automotive cabin. Sensitivities are 79.8 mV/kPa (550 mV/psi), measurement range is 189 dB (57.2 kPa), resolution is 96 dB (1.4 Pa), and frequency response is 0.05 Hz to 20 kHz (filtered). The device survives higher intensity signals up to 216 dB.
