Automotive Grade Proximity/Ambient-Light Sensor Provides Suits Gesture Applications

Featuring Filtron technology, the VCNL4035X01 sensor combines photo detectors for proximity and ambient light, a signal conditioning IC, a 16-bit ADC, and a driver for up to three external IREDs in a 4 mm x 2.36 mm x 0.75 mm surface-mount package. The AEC-Q101 qualified sensor features an interrupt function and supports an I²C interface. Applications include gesture recognition, presence detection, and lighting control. All the circuitry needed for these applications is included in one. Samples and production quantities of the new VCNL4035X01 are available now, with lead times of eight to 12 weeks for large orders.
