Automotive Grade Metal Strip Resistor Saves Space, Reduces Component Counts

Offering resistance values down to 1 mΩ, Vishay Intertechnology’s automotive grade power Metal Strip resistor sports a 10W power rating in a compact 2818 case size. The device features a proprietary construction enabling improved thermal management. It can replace high power components or multiple lower power devices, reducing board space requirements and enabling the design of smaller and lighter end products. Features include resistance values from 1 mΩ to 100 mΩ, with tolerances down to ± 0.5 %, a solid metal nickel-chrome or manganese-copper alloy resistive element with a TCR of ± 20 ppm/°C, inductance values less than 5 nH, thermal EMF less than 3 µV/°C, and a temperature range from -65°C to +170°C. Pricing starts at $0.49 each/10,000. A datasheet is available at
